The challenge this month over at superheroofthemonth was to do a redesign of Daredevil. I've always been a fan of Daredevil, but was never super fond of the costume. I don't understand why he needed a big "D" on his chest. You'd think the horns would enough of a calling card.
For my version of Daredevil I obviously wanted to play up the devil aspect (all the better to scare criminals). I also wanted to make the mask reflect his blindness. I also gave his feet a cloven hoof look because it seems like he could have better balance and it would give him a bit of grip when he scrambles up walls (like a mountain goat).

Vocal: Banshee's Wail

Another of my drawings from "The Vault". This was a drawing I did ages ago (2008) as a parody of Edvard Munch's "The Scream" using X-Men characters (Banshee in particular). I thought it fit well with this week's Illustration Friday topic, which is "Vocal". I have been meaning to upload this on my blog for quite a while, and this week's challenge gave me an excuse. I don't know why, but I've always proud of this illustration. Maybe because it's really colorful.

DeVito's Spidey Jammies
I recently joined the Caricaturama Showdown 3000 group on Facebook and this week's celebrity was Danny DeVito.
The first thing that popped into my head was a picture that DeVito posted on Twitter of himself in Spider-man pajamas. Ta-daaa!

Rhino Hunting
Some more venting, but this time about animal conservation news.
After reading the news about rhino poaching this year I was fantasizing about what would happen if poachers tried to steal the horn from the Rhino character from Marvel comics.
I'm quite into animal conservation, and 2011 was a real bummer for wild rhinos. The rate of rhino poaching was about 35 times higher last year than four years ago, and 54 have already been killed this year (about one a day). Not to mention that the Javan rhino was recently declared extinct in Vietnam (poachers got the last one).
I have nothing but loathing for people that buy rhino horn or poach rhinos. Consuming rhino horn is basically the same thing as eating your fingernails!
I think this guy is really on to something!
